ALLEN & HEATH INTRODUCE GL2800 TO NEW GENERATION OF RANGE
Allen & Heath has introduced the GL2800 dual-function mixer as part of a new generation of the industry standard GL range of live sound mixers. The GL2800 is equipped with L, R and M main mixes, 8 groups, 10 auxes including a dedicated stereo aux, 12x4 matrix including external inputs, and 4 mute groups. Models from 16 to 56 channels are available.
The GL2800 benefits from the latest audio circuitry, now with an extended preamp gain range of 74dB with input on XLR or jack, a new ultra-quiet mix head amp design for optimum dynamic range, and differential output XLR drive to +26dBu.
With dual-function capability, pioneered originally by Allen & Heath in the early 1990's, the new GL2800 has been developed with a feature set dedicated to support modern sound engineering techniques. In monitor mode, 14 stage mixes plus engineers monitor wedge mix can be created from the 10 auxes, 4 matrix and M output. Mic cross-patching into the matrix allows ambience to be easily added to live recording and IEM mixes. The stereo mix provides a perfect source for modern monitor systems such as Hear Back and Aviom, for live recording or for dual reverb. The GL2800 is ideal for space conscious fixed installations and for touring and rental.
"We've designed the GL2800 to provide our best sonic performance yet. The pre-amp and mix bus amp designs have been taken to a new level, able to cope with an incredibly wide signal range, producing a very open, natural sound. We have paid particular attention to achieving the ultimate transparency from all the circuits in the signal path," comments Allen & Heath's R&D manager, Mike Griffin. "We are also proud of the vast functionality of this model - up to 56 channels and 10 auxes - ergonomic, yet packed into a compact and ruggedly built package."
